If the lid of the folding box you ordered bulges after closing, you have most likely received a poor quality product. We explain why folding box lids sometimes bulge. Here are some reasons for the bulging:
The print shop from which you ordered your custom-made folding box has set up the die-cutting tool for punching out the box incorrectly, so that the lid is slightly too long and it bulges after closing for this reason. Slots that are too short can also cause this unpleasant result.
The cardboard from which your folding carton is made always has a correct and an incorrect running direction, i.e. a correct side that is fed into the printing machine and an incorrect side. If the carton is fed in the wrong way round, tension is created in the carton, which can lead to a bulge in the lid or even to creases - in oval cartons, for example.
However, experienced online print shops for folding cartons should know this, which is why such a problem should never occur.
Another reason why the lid of the folding box bulges when closing is that the lid is too long. Your print shop should make improvements here and change the die-cutter accordingly.
It should be added that it is completely normal for the lid of your folding box to lift a few millimetres and therefore bulge slightly. However, if we are talking about a very strong curvature or even the formation of creases and folds in the box, you have probably received an inferior folding box.
